  • When working with children it is often most helpful to work directly with caregivers. Our staff is highly trained in helping caregivers navigate challenging moments with their children while also reminding parents of the importance of their own self-care and well-being. In addition to parent coaching our staff are also trained in:

    • Parent Child Interaction Therapy with certified therapists and PCIT International Within Agency Trainer

    • Behavioral Parent Management Training (PMT)

  • Family members will work with our staff to strengthen relationships, reconnect, identify solutions and find resources for problems. Family therapy can be useful in any family, where there is stress, conflict, change, dissatisfaction or simply a desire to learn more effective patterns and communication styles. We also specialize in:

    • Preteen and teen family relationships

    • Coaching in mindful separation or divorce

  • As needed, our clinicians are available to offer intensive treatments in collaboration with schools and in-home interventions. This can include:

    • At Home PCIT

    • The creation and implementation of in-home therapy and behavior plans

    • School observations and Intervention

    • Teacher and school staff consultation

    • Specific interventions for children and teens with school refusal and programs for re-entry.

  • We work with families across the continuum of separation. This includes families who are considering separation, or families that are in various stages of the process of divorcing, with or without, litigation involvement. Our goal is in mindful splitting in which we work to honor to the time spent together and goals mutually established while in the relationship and during the process of ending the relationship. If children are involved, specific coaching focuses on aligning parents to work together in the best interest of children.

If you are interested in joining other teens who are having similar experiences to you then please join Dr. Kimberly Kleinman in a weekly discussion group. The discussions will focus on understanding your own experience with these events, as well as strategies for how you can be part of a generation that works towards social and racial equity.

Evaluations

  • Psychiatric evaluations provide you or your child with detailed information regarding overall well-being and social-emotional functioning. By evaluating family history, social and environmental influences and current and past functioning in various aspects of life, we provide you with a clear conceptualization of you or your child’s psychiatric presentation as well as recommendations for treatment. While we may provide you with a psychiatric diagnosis, our approach focuses more on overall well-being by highlighting strengths, goals and values that can inform treatment so that you or your child can flourish.

  • In a psychoeducational evaluation we not only evaluate psychiatric well-being but also work with you and your child to better understand your academic strengths and weaknesses, as well as their learning development. This allows us to help create a roadmap of how to best help your child succeed with recommendations for the home, school and/or psychiatric providers.

  • On a case by case basis, our clinicians offer bilingual (English/Spanish) psychological or psychoeducational evaluations for children of parents facing removal proceedings. In these cases the evaluation can help demonstrate that the removal of an immigrant would inflict extreme hardship to a U.S. citizen or resident family member due to their need for emotional support, caretaking and/or financial assistance. These evaluations can include an extensive review of educational, medical and/or psychological history as well as clinical interview and administration of psychiatric measures to understand the impact of removal on the family member.

  • After getting to know you or your child better, we are able to serve as your educational advocate to assure that you receive the appropriate educational support needed. This may follow a psychiatric or psychoeducational evaluation, or may be included as part of your child’s psychotherapy. With your consent, we work closely with schools, community programs and/or outside agencies to ensure that your child is best understood and cared for given their unique strengths and needs.
