Beth Maletz, PMH, DNP

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Dr. Beth Maletz has been a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner since 2007. Her passion is thorough assessment, then partnering with her patients to build upon their strengths, identify new strategies to improve health and well-being, and determine whether psychiatric medication is a helpful addition to the treatment plan. Beth has worked in a variety of psychiatric settings, from inpatient, residential, and juvenile justice where she cared for patients with high complexity and acuity, to community-based settings where early intervention prevents future challenges. Her goal with psychiatric medication is to find a regimen that provides physiologic safety and stability so her patients can engage fully in psychotherapy and lifestyle changes that promote long-term healing. Beth works tirelessly to ensure her patients feel empowered and comfortable with their medication.

From psychiatric evaluation to confirming a diagnosis and recommending treatment, Beth incorporates her lifelong learning into her work. She graduated pre-med from Dartmouth College, then ultimately found the role of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to be best aligned with her approach to care. At the University of Pennsylvania, she studied under brilliant psychiatric providers and trained in CBT through the Beck Institute. Later, she trained with The Linehan Institute to incorporate tenets of DBT into her practice. Now at Columbia University, she continues to learn from leaders in the field and teaches the next generation of doctorally-prepared psychiatric providers. Beth's greatest joy is loving and supporting her family and helping others to do the same.
